Design of  novel all-optical switching based on photonic-crystal heterostructure coupling waveguides

摘要:

基于电磁波在耦合波导中的传输特性,建立了一个光开关模型,利用耦合模理论、平面波展开法以及有限时域差分法进行设计和分析。分别分析改变介质柱的折射率和异质结位置变化对开关功能的影响。结果表明改变介电柱的折射率能影响开关的功能,而异质结耦合波导中介电柱的位置分布对光开关功能影响很小。利用这个特性可以在光开关的设计中有更多的灵活性。

Abstract:

An optical switching model was established based on the transmission characteristics of electromagnetic wave in the photonic-crystal coupling waveguides. The coupling length was calculated when the refractive index of the coupling dielectric rods is in different values by using the coupling mode theory and plane wave expansion method. Making finite-difference time-domain as the research tool, analyze the light wave output condition as the refractive index of the dielectric rods equals to 3 and 3.4, and the effect of the position of heterostructure to the optical switch functions. The result shows that it changes the function of the optical switch when the dielectric rods refractive index is 3.4, but the position of heterostructure doesn’t change the optical switch function. These properties can be used in the design of optical switches more flexibility in practice.
