Study on Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) depending on metal tip angle

Abstract: Raman scattering can be enhanced by metal taper, but quantitative relationship between SERS and taper’s angle is seldom reported. To get this quantitative relationship, we fabricated a series of different angled tapers. Four kinds of samples with different angles, including 30°60°90°120°, were fabricated by maskless projective lithography using Digital Micro mirror Device (DMD). Surface enhanced Raman spectrum of all these samples were measured and analyzed. We concluded that the smaller angle, the more enhancement of SERS and the enhancement was sensitive to the angle for acute angles but almost constant for angles greater than 90 degrees.
