Two-photon laser cooling of moving three-level atom

Abstract:

From the concept of radiation force, the friction and diffusion coefficients are given, then the cooling temperatures are analyzed using the Einstein relation. It is shown that temperatures much lower than the Doppler limit can be achieved,and the two-photon laser cooling scheme is more efficient than the one-photon laser cooling.
