High-Speed Pulse Modulation Based on FPGA

Abstract: Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a research topic of information security area. It can provide security key distribution. However, the low key rate of QKD limits its practical appliance. The increasement of the speed of LD driver pulse modulation effectively improves signal rate, to expedite the key generation rate of quantum key distribution. Modulation rate can be achieved 200M on FPGA in the case of using 200M clock frequency. It is indicated in the experiment’s result that the jitter of the output quantum signal less than 2ns by using this scheme realize pulse modulation, which meets the requirement of quantum key distribution.
